Sigillo cilindrico (MO274)
Pietra grigio-marrone venata.
Stato di conservazione mediocre, superficie molto consunta.
Neo-assiro, ‘stile lineare’ (IX-VIII secolo a.C.).32

Scena di adorazione: una figura maschile barbata, con lunga
veste, è in atto di adorazione di Adad, benedicente e con
l’ascia in mano, in piedi sul toro; alle sue spalle una stella
su pianta stilizzata. Tra le due figure, in basso il simbolo di
Marduk (marru), in alto la falce lunare.

Pasta vitrea biancastra.
Stato di conservazione mediocre, superficie molto abrasa.

Due uccelli androcefali barbati incedono verso sinistra; in
campo una stella e una falce lunare. La scena è delimitata da
due linee incise.

Stato di conservazione buono.

Due uccelli affrontati: quello a sinistra con testa rivolta
all’indietro, quello a destra a testa umana barbata e con
turbante. Falce lunare in campo, al centro. Per lo schema a

Cristallo di rocca e materiale plastico34 nella parte superiore.
Stato di conservazione buono, una scheggiatura e abrasioni
interessano la parte inferiore. La porzione superiore in
materiale plastico è stata aggiunta in età contemporanea ‘per
renderlo commercialmente più attraente’.35

Poorly preserved, worn surface.

Worshiping scene: a bearded worshiper wearing a long
garment, facing a benedicent Adad standing on a bull and
holding an axe. Behind Adad, a star on a stylized tree.
Between the two figures, the symbol of Marduk (marru)
and the moon crescent.

crescent are used as filling motifs. The scene is marked off
by two engraved lines.

Well preserved.

Two facing birds. The left one has its head turned back, the
right one is human-headed and wears a turban. Between
them is a crescent. For the motif of two facing birds, usually
sphinxes, cf. Moortgat 1940: 84, 710; Buchanan 1966: pl.
41, 619-20.
Cylinder seal (MO277)
Rock crystal, hardened pliable material34 at the top.
Well preserved, except for a small splintering and scratches
on lower side. The seal has been restored in modern time
using pliable material ‘per renderlo commercialmente più
attraente’.35
